Purists beware. I purchased this limited edition version of the R1 because the black version of the R1 is impossible to find anywhere in Canada. Everyone seems to be sold out. I already own the FDT version of the R1, the Bushmaster PDW and the Black version of the DPMS - but I wanted to add the black version of the R1 to my collection. This L.E. version of the gun (IMHO) looks a bit too comical (although the cause is worthy) with way too many red components. I did kind of fall in love with the grey base of the gun but some compromises had to be made. I sketched out the following look and am in the process of executing it. Already sent a few mags worth of .177 downrange and it performed flawlessly as expected. As close to the operation of a real AR15 as you can get I believe. I also own the Sig MCX Rattler and the Canebrake version of that gun both made by Sig, and they aren't as realistic in terms of function as the Crosman rifles. (ie: dust cover molded and inoperable, no working bolt catch release etc.) Anyway - love these Crosman rifles - and they are very accurate right out of the box using the folding iron sites (I was hitting an 8"x10" target out 25 yards without difficulty.) If you can get your hands on one - buy it.
